Can you come to my workplace or facility to deliver training?
Yes. Safety101 is a national business. We have clients in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. We will happily travel to deliver training at your workplace or facility.
My workplace or facility does not have the space for training – do you have an alternate venue?
Not a problem. We can arrange a venue based on your needs and location.
Do you have minimum number of students for a course?
Our courses are usually sized between 8 and 12 students per class. If you have a smaller group we would be happy to accommodate based on your needs.
How long will the course take?
Typically courses require a minimum of half a day per unit standard (particularly for courses associated with a national unit standard). Depending on class size and business requirements this may vary.
Can I combine several courses in a single training session?
Yes. We often combine courses or training and advisory services for our clients.
I’m interested in a course that’s not listed on your website. Do you offer other courses as well?
Yes. We also offer the courses outlined here. Please contact us directly if your enquiry relates to one of these courses, or if you have other specific training requirements that are not listed.
Is Safety101 an Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
No. Safety101 is pleased to partner with a range of leading WHS RTOs across Australia who are able to provide all students with nationally accredited certifications through this partnership.
What is different about your training?
Our top priority is to use the best available tools to place your employees into safe scenarios where they can actively practice their role in emergency management.
Safety101’s Managing Director Jason Wood has been a professional firefighter for over 15 years. His hand on experience in operational emergency management, as a firefighter, educator and mentor of emergency services personnel, is the driver behind the value we place on scenario-based and realistic training. Jason has seen the difference this type of training can make in human behavior and outcomes in emergency management.
Safety101 has invested in virtual reality technology (the FLAIM Extinguisher), allowing our students to fully immerse themselves in an emergency, make decisions and demonstrate learning for optimised outcomes. Our virtual reality product comes with multiple fire scenarios including car, aircraft, house, rural, office, warehouse, commercial kitchen and ship. We can also work with you to customise virtual reality scenarios that are unique to your industry and environment.
What is the difference between accredited and non-accredited training?
Accreditation of a training course is an official government recognition of an educational qualification. It gives the qualification status as a bona fide qualification for employment and education purposes under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). In some sets of circumstances, accredited training is required to be considered an eligible candidate for a specific role (for example, a Chief Warden in a large manufacturing facility).
Many people are under the impression that a non-accredited course has less value, which is not the case. A non-accredited course focuses on equipping the student with a specific skillset relevant to their skills or experience, which might include Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training for childcare workers as an example. Non-accredited courses are great for:
Learning a new skillset;
Building on your proficiencies;
Accessing training in shorter time frames; and
Cost effectiveness.
You can get a job with a non-accredited certificate. However it is important to note that you will not be able to apply for roles which require accreditation as part of the role description.
